How to Trim a Video on YouTube Studio?

YouTube Studio is beneficial because it allows you to edit videos without changing its views, comments or likes. You also don’t have to re-upload it. The video will be updated as it is without any change in the metrics. So, how to trim a video on YouTube Studio? YouTube Studio is only accessible via a computer. So, if you want to trim and edit your videos, go to your desktop’s search engine and open YouTube Studio to start editing.

Go to YouTube Studio

The first thing you need to do is open the video editor on YouTube Studio:

Trim the Start or End Parts

When you open the editor, you will see many editing options there.

  • Select Trim, and a blue box will appear around the video clips
  • Start trimming by clicking and dragging the blue box. The portion of the video in the blue box will be kept in the video. Hence, take the parts you want to delete out of the box
  • Once you are done trimming, click Preview to see the changes made and check if the video is looking good in the final shape
  • Click Save at the top right of screen. The video will be updated to the newer version

Trim the Middle Parts

Trimming the middle portion is a bit tricky. Follow these steps:

  • Select Trim. The same blue box will appear on the video
  • Click and drag the blue box to the start of the portion you want to delete
  • Select Split and the portion will split into two clips
  • A white bar will appear after the clips split. Click and drag that to the end of the clip you want to remove
  • After editing and trimming, click Preview to see how the changes you made affect the video overall
  • Select Save at the top right when you are done editing
