Warning: Permanently deleting your Twitch account will erase any content that you have uploaded, saved videos, and all information associated with your account. Once permanently deleted, all your account information is, well, permanently deleted. Do this only if you’re sure of wanting complete disassociation.
If you prefer a “no major commitments” arrangement instead, Twitch has you covered! You can choose to disable your account simply. This deactivates your account but saves associated data that can be retrieved (or ‘revived’ as a Twitch streamer would call it) at your convenience. Thus, you leave the door open for possible account reactivation at a later date.
TO PERMANENTLY DELETE YOUR TWITCH ACCOUNT:
- Open Twitch and log into the account that you wish to delete permanently.
- Go to the Twitch Account Deletion Page. Once you have logged into your account. Note that the deletion page will not yield any results on your webpage if you are not logged into Twitch before you open it.
- Also, note that the account deletion page is also accessible from the Twitch website and not from the mobile app.
- Once on the account deletion page, enter the username of your account and optionally mention the reason behind wanting to delete your Twitch account.
- Click the “Delete Account” button.
- You should get a confirmation from Twitch regarding account deletion.

TO DISABLE YOUR TWITCH ACCOUNT (TEMPORARY ACCOUNT DELETION):
- Go to Twitch (https://www.twitch.tv/) and log into your account.
- A Twitch account cannot be disabled from the mobile app; using the website is mandatory.
- If you have multiple Twitch accounts, ensure that the account that you want to disable is the account that you have signed into Twitch with. Signing into Twitch with an alternative account and performing these steps will disable the alternate account.
- Click your account icon in the top-right corner of your screen and choose the settings option from the drop-down list.
- The settings page presents a broad range of options to customize and manage your Twitch account. Navigate to the bottom of the settings page and select the “Disable Account” option.
- Enter the username of the account that is to be disabled in the new window that opens. Optionally, you can also tell Twitch why you wish to disable your account.
- Click the “Disable Account” option at the bottom of the window. At this point, your account should be disabled. You will receive a confirmation from Twitch and be logged out of the account.
TIP: Before disabling your Twitch account, ensure that you end any premium subscriptions that you may have purchased. While in most cases, you should be fine even if you don’t do this (as Twitch will simply cancel your subscriptions when they expire), if you have opted for auto-recurring subscriptions, you will continue to incur charges despite having a disabled Twitch account. Nobody likes unexpected bills.
HOW TO REACTIVATE A DISABLED TWITCH ACCOUNT:
Simply access the Twitch website. Reactivation cannot happen via the Twitch app, even if you use it on a PC. On the Login page, enter the details of the disabled account. Twitch will identify that these details are linked to a now deactivated account and confirm whether it should now be reactivated. Simply agree to reactivation and game away! You will have access to saved videos and the Twitch friends made from that account!
