How to Play Music on Instagram Story?

Before the Instagram update, there was a much simpler way to add music to your stories. Instagram had a dedicated menu specifically for music. It now requires some extra steps, but nonetheless, here are two simple methods to add music to your Instagram stories.

Instagram Music Feature

Step 1: Go to your Instagram story and record a regular video or photo. You can even upload it from your camera reel by swiping up right here, as you can see. But keep in mind that this method requires you to have an internet connection. If you don’t have it, then you can’t add music to your story.

Step 2: After you record the video, tap on the third icon on the top of your screen. You’ll most likely see a music option when you tap on the icon. But if you don’t see it right away, type in “Music” on the search bar and run a search.

Step 3: Click on the music icon, and it will show you a list of music that is trending at the moment. Similar to other music platforms, you can search for a song using the search bar. You can also swipe across the page to use the browse feature and scroll down to search for a song. Instagram will list the available songs by genre, mood, and theme.

But Instagram features only a limited number of songs. Thus, you’ll only be able to add from the limited number of listed songs.

Step 4: Instagram will play the most popular parts of the song by default. To change this, swipe across the options at the bottom of your screen. And you can choose a particular moment of a song you want to play. You can also choose to add the type of lyrical font you want. At the same time, you can make use of the option to add the album art as if it was an old record.

Step 5: You can then adjust the size of the lyrics or album art by pinching it with your fingers. In such a way, you’ll be able to place it somewhere on your Instagram story. That’s it; you selected the song to post on the story.

Now when someone views your story, it’ll automatically play the music you chose.

It’s true that using the music feature on Instagram is the easiest way to add music to your story. But there are third-party apps that you can use as well.

Step 1: Go to the App Store or Play Store and download the “InShot Video Editor.” Even though it’s a bit of a lengthy process, InShot is very easy to use. And it requires only 80 megabytes. The app essentially allows you to edit and add music to your videos.

Step 2: Open the app and click on “Video.” You can then select the video you want to edit and upload it. You’ll have to navigate through the features at the bottom of the screen and click on “Music.”
