Unmuting Stories and Posts on Instagram
There are methods through which users can unmute someone’s stories on Instagram. These are, namely, unmuting from the Feed, Profile, and Settings menu. Let’s go through all of them step by step.
Unmuting Stories Through Feed
Step 1: Go ahead and open the Instagram app.
Step 2: Once your feed shows up, head over to the stories. Swipe through the stories from right to left until the very end of the stories.
When you reach the end of the line, you’ll see the account (s) you muted. You can differentiate them from the rest of the stories as they will be a bit blur and faded.
Step 3: Go ahead and long press on the account you want to unmute. Doing so will give you a few options to choose from.
Step 4: As the selection bar slides in from the bottom, tap on “Unmute Story.”
Remember, you cannot unmute Posts or Messages through this method. It’s only for the purpose of unmuting stories.
Unmuting Stories and Posts Through Profile
Step 1: Run the Instagram App.
Step 2: Head over to the account that you wish to unmute. You may do so by searching for their profile on the “Search” page. Besides, you can also go to your profile, go to “Following,” and search for the account there.
Step 3: Once you’re on the muted account’s page, tap on the “Following.”
Step 4: From the list of options, to unmute, simply tap on “Mute.”
Step 5: Now, the interface will give you the option to unmute either “Stories” or “Posts” or both of them.
(If you followed the first method and unmuted the story already, you only need to unmute the posts.)
Step 6: Once you make up your mind, simply tap once on the blue toggle. When both the toggles slide towards the left and turn white, you succeeded in unmuting both the story and posts.
Unmuting Stories and Posts Through Settings Menu
Step 1: Once again, open your Instagram app on your phone.
Step 2: Look over to the bottom right corner. Tap on your profile picture. Your account profile page will pop up.
Step 3: Once you’re there, head over to the top right corner and tap on the three lines stacked together.
Step 4: Head down, and you’ll see the “Settings” button. Tap on that.
Step 5: When the “Settings” page opens up, go to the options under “Connections.”

Step 2: When your account feed opens up, head over to the top right corner. Open your direct messages page.
Step 3: Look for the account you wish to unmute. Go right ahead and long-press the profile when you find that account.
