You may want to spice up your Instagram feed and stories with fun animated GIFS. But if you ever tried to upload a GIF to Instagram, it shows up as an image, not a GIF.
If It were a GIF, it would be moving like a video. And this is because a GIF is a short looping image format and not a video format. Thus, let's go ahead with our guide on how to post a GIF on Instagram. As of now, Instagram does not accept GIFs posted directly to their page. There are two different ways to upload a GIF on Instagram.
How to Post a GIF on Instagram Using GIFConvert.er
The first method is to upload a GIF that you previously saved to your images. So, if you want to know how to upload GIFS saved on your phone, follow these steps.
If you want to upload a GIF, you need to convert it to a form that Instagram will understand. And to do that, you'll need to use a GIF converter app. You'll find multiple converter apps on the iOS App Store and Play store.
However, for this article, we're going to be talking about the GIFConvert.er app. Similar to other GIF converter apps, it'll leave a watermark when you upload your GIF.
Step 1: Download the app and give it access to your pictures. It'll automatically find your GIFS in your newsfeed for you.
Step 2: Select the GIF you want to upload and customize the settings. For Instagram to accept it as a video, it needs to be longer than 10 seconds. So go ahead and make it 10 or 15 seconds in terms of duration.
(Besides that, you can learn about buying more followers on Instagram through our website.)

You can customize the speed of the loop according to your preference. And if your GIF doesn't have a perfect loop, you can change the direction of the GIF into a boomerang.
Step 3: After you've made changes to the settings, press convert to video. You can download the video, and the app will export your GIF instantly to your camera reel. Or you can directly post to Instagram by tapping on the Instagram icon.

Step 4: But if you want to do it manually, pop across back to the Instagram app. You can go to the plus button at the top and add a feed post. Select the GIF you want to upload and make sure it fits the screen. Press "Next" to add captions, tag people, and upload the post.
How to Post a GIF on Instagram using GIPHY
The second method involves using an app that comes pre-loaded with a large number of GIFs. The apps will allow you to upload those GIFs directly to Instagram. If you don't already have a GIF on your phone, this method is going to make it quicker and easier.
For this method, the app we're going to be using is GIPHY.
Step 1: Open your web browser and go to giphy.com. You can do this on your computer or your mobile device.

Step 2: Click in the search bar and type in a word related to the type of image you'd like to find. Any GIF you can think of is most likely going to be on its database. You can scroll through the search results and find one that you would like to use.
Step 3: Select the GIF you want to use and tap on the airplane icon underneath the GIF. It allows you to share the GIF anywhere you want.

Step 4: You can select either the "Copy Link" or "COPY GIF" options. That is if you want to paste it somewhere or send it as a message.
Step 5: To post it on Instagram, tap on the Instagram icon. And it will redirect you to your Instagram app. Giphy automatically converts the GIF to a 15-second video. So, you can choose whether you would like to post it to your story or your Instagram feed.
And unlike other converter apps, you'll notice that GIPHY does not leave a watermark. So if that's important to you, using the GIPHY app is the way to go.
