By posting Instagram stories, which are fullscreen photos and videos which disappear after 24 hours, you can share fast moments with your Instagram followers. If you don’t want someone to look at your Instagram stories specifically, you can add them to your Hide From Story list. Here’s how to hide your Instagram story.

How Hiding Stories on Instagram Works

If you hide your stories from followers, they’re not the wiser you’ve done it. They’re still going to be able to see your regular posts in their home page, show your profile, and connect with you—they’re just not going to see your stories stream into their stories or your profile appear. This might be better if they are to be blocked or excluded as followers.

Extra Tips About Hiding Your Instagram Stories

Please note that you can cover from your stories only current followers— not just anybody. So if your Instagram profile is set for public viewing and you see people who don’t follow you watching your stories as well, you may want to consider making your Instagram profile private.

You may also notice that your story appears on a location page or a hashtag page, which can be seen at the top of the view counter. Only press the X to the right of the location or hashtag tab to prevent it from appearing here.

Finally, if you want to share some stories with a smaller group of people, you should consider using the Close Friends function of Instagram, which allows you to share stories only with a group of followers that you have selected.
