Fortunately, Instagram provides a valuable option to make drafts, even for Reels. This is extremely advantageous when you wish to modify and upload the video afterward.
However, after you've chosen and uploaded the winning reels, you might need to delete some of the draft reels you created. Alternatively, you could not like any of your draft Reels and want to delete them to clean up your profile because it might be challenging to find where the drafts are kept. Deleting Reel drafts can be a bit tough. In the instructions below, you'll discover how to remove draft Reels on Instagram and where they are saved.
How to delete the draft of an Instagram reel:
- Visit Instagram.
- On the Profile icon, tap
- the Reels icon on your profile by tapping it.
- Toggle drafts, then click Select.

- Then select Discard from the screen's bottom menu.

You must first open the IG app on your phone to erase the reels draft. Click on your profile icon in the lower right corner of the home screen to access your profile. You have two options when creating a reel: upload the Reel or store it as a draft. You may get to it by going to the reel drafts if you have stored it in the draft. Since all your reel movies are drafted in one location, it is simpler to delete them all at once.
Choose the Reels Draft that you no longer desire.
In the upper right corner, tap the "select" button. Then, tap each Reel that you want to remove from your phone. If you want to remove the entire reel draft at once, you can choose all of the reels.

Instagram has added a new "Recently deleted" feature that keeps deleted posts, stories, IGTV videos, and Reels for up to 30 days before being completely removed.
Unfortunately, a Reels draft that has been deleted is not kept in the "Recently deleted" folder. However, if you recently erased an uploaded Reel, you'll likely discover it in Instagram's Recently deleted area.
- Go to your profile on the Instagram app after opening it.
- In the top-right corner, tap the three horizontal lines.
- Choose "Your Activity."
- Click on "Recently removed" after scrolling down.
- Any Reels drafts that have been removed should be shown here.
- Tap on a Reels draft to recover it.
- Then, touch on the screen's bottom-right triangle with the three vertical dots.
- Go to the slide-up menu and choose "Restore."
By doing this, your deleted Reel will be added back to the Reels area of your profile.
