Check in from mobile

Log in to your account
Locate the Facebook app on your mobile phone. Log in to your account, if not already logged in. This will take you to your news feed.
Tap the “Check In” button
At the top of the screen, you will find the “Check In” button. This is located below the “What’s on your mind?” box. Tap on this button. Facebook may ask you to enable location. So do that if you want to share your location with your friends.
Select a location
When you enable your location, it will show you a list of nearby places. These can be any places from restaurants and businesses to people’s homes. If you find the place you want to Check In to, select it from the list. Or you can also search for your desired place by typing the name in the search box. When your place shows up on the list, click on it.
Add a comment
After that, you will see the “Check In” screen. You can add a comment to describe the place or event. This will give it the feel of a status update.
Add photos
Do you wish to add photos or videos to make your update more exciting? You can do that too. Just locate the option of photos and videos at the bottom of the screen. And choose the ones you want to post from your camera roll. Now your Check In will have some visual appeal as well.
Tag your friends

Choose a privacy setting
You can also choose the privacy setting you like. Whether you want to hide your activity from your boss. Or you want to share the post with just your friends. You can choose the privacy option to share it with Friends or Custom Friends. If you choose Custom Friends, then you can restrict certain people in your friend list from viewing your post.
Share the post
All that is left for you to do is tap the Post button. And voila! Your post will now be added to your timeline and in your friends’ News Feed.

Check in from the desktop
