When Was Discord Made?
Discord was made and released publicly on 13th May 2015 and it has an interesting story of origin. Originally, the concept of Discord came from one of its founders, who had founded a social gaming platform. The founders’ first MOBA game on mobile platforms did not become successful but this led the partners to notice how hard it was to work out tactics in games that use VoIP software.
This led them to focus on the user-friendliness of the discord app where users can perform a wide variety of features including voice chat and calls. The app promotes building online communities and users can easily create a unique community by increasing members on their server. The app was not built specifically for the gaming community but gamers soon began to switch their IRC links to Discord links which led to more users on the platform. It was soon widely used for eSport events and LAN tournament gamers.
Who Founded Discord
Discord was founded in 2015 by Jason Citron and Stan Vishnevskiy, the app was originally known as Hammer and Chisel Inc. Jason Citron founded fates forever but since the game failed, he later founded discord intending to bring gamers from all around the world together to discuss the games that they love. It has evolved into a communications tool that small groups of people use to large communities that chat about the games or stream the games they love. Stan Vishnevskiy is the CTO and co-founder of the platform, he has been working at Guildwork since the year 2009. It is a web hosting service that hosts over 1000 sites.
Who Can Use Discord
Any individual above the age of 13 can use Discord. Since the average age of users on the app is 16 years old, the app still does not advertise services for 13-17-year-olds. The application targets adults and gamers which indicates the expected age to be around 30-33 years old. Since the idea of discord was to allow players or gamers to coordinate better when playing and streaming their game live, the developers had this particular goal in mind.
Many users create 18+ servers that restrict access to users above the age of 18 years. Nevertheless, there are also other servers that can be accessed by every user, those servers focus on sports and TV shows.
Facts About Discord
The facts about Discord are interesting as there are no apps that match the features of this unique app. It is a one-stop shop for everything you need to get connected with your friends/family/community.
